Biography

Ainsworth Rose, known as Skystar, is a Jamaican Reggae/Dancehall artist based in Edmonton. Despite his humble and challenging beginnings, Skystar has developed a fiery and fighting spirit in his creative expression. His music career spans over a decade, and he has collaborated with critically acclaimed producers from Jamaica, the United States, and Canada. Notably, his work with Bobby Digital, Calibuds, Pandemic Records, Wizdom Entertainment, Cornelius Records, DJ Lethal Vybez, Konsequence Muzik Group, Diet Monkey Entertainment Inc., Flo1music, Wall Street Records, and Dean Mundy has proven countless times over that he is a seasoned independent reggae and dancehall act to watch out for. Dancehall patrons have recognized Skystar’s major energy, cementing his position as the next big thing in the genre.

Skystar grew up in Mudtown, a small community in St. Andrew, Jamaica. His family faced deep hardship, leaving them without a steady home and struggling to survive for many years. However, Skystar found solace in songwriting and music as a means of escape from life’s struggles. By the age of 15, he had written his first single, “Si mi Yah,” which quickly gained heavy rotation on Jamaican radio, earning him local recognition as a true reggae artist. Skystar has continued to make music and has become an unstoppable force in the industry.

Since relocating to Canada, among his career accolades under his record label GLZ RECORDS, Skystar’s released numerous big tunes including High and Live featuring Shane O, Top Life, Trouble featuring Kaje, Gonna Be Ok featuring Jah Vinci and 35 to Life, which alone has already garnered over 100, 000 video views on YouTube.

Skystar’s not shy to the stage either, performing all across the country, touring Quebec, Ontario and Western Canada. In recent years, he’s opened for many global Reggae/Dancehall acts such as I-Octane, Pamputee, Babycham, Jah Vinci, Shane O, Silkboss, General Trees, Alkaline, Fantan Mojah, Queen Ifrica, and Charlie Blacks to name a few. When not on the road, Skystar stays booked and busy right here in Alberta, making featured live appearances as part of the growing reggae and dancehall nightlife scenes in Calgary and Edmonton. Along with music, a little-known fact about Skystar is how he also pours his passions into the culinary world! As a foodie with a talent for international cooking, the kitchen is the other place you’ll find him;that is when he’s not whipping up something spicy in the studio.
